Help! I need an abortion NOW!

NI Direct have guidelines on getting an abortion in Northern Ireland.

British Pregnancy Advisory Service on 03457 30 40 30.

There is currently up to a 5 day wait for call backs from the 1st contact.
Once you get the consultation call, your appointment should be in a couple of days.

Request abortion appointment in NI

As of Oct 2023, all HSC Trusts in Northern Ireland offer medical abortion
where the pregnancy is under 12 weeks.
MVA is also available across all trusts for those who cannot take the pills.
As of December 2023 the SE trust will be offering abortion beyond 12 weeks.
Starting at 18 weeks then 20 weeks - it should be 24 weeks eventually but they are phasing it in stages.

Safe access zones

Safe access zones are in place at health care premises providing lawful abortion services.
It is illegal for women accessing these services and staff working at the premises to be impeded, recorded,
influenced or to be caused harassment, alarm or distress within the safe access zone areas.
There are eight safe access zones in Northern Ireland. 

The zones are:

  • Southern Trust - Craigavon Area Hospital - 100m

  • Southern Trust - Daisy Hill Hospital - 130m

  • Belfast Trust - College Street - 130m

  • Belfast Trust - Bradbury Wellbeing and Treatment Centre - 150m

  • Northern Trust - Causeway Hospital - 100m

  • Western Trust - Altnagelvin Hospital - 100m

  • South Eastern Trust - Lagan Valley Hospital - 100m

  • South Eastern Trust - Ulster Hospital - 100m
