Alliance for Choice outside the Assembly on 21st October 2019, by Ciara McMullan

Alliance for Choice (AfC) believes everyone who needs an abortion should have free, safe and legal access in their own country, without stigma; set up in 1996, we campaign for barrier free access to abortion, comprehensive, unbiased sex education for young people and an end to the harassment of people using reproductive health services.

Much of our work has been about giving voice to the tens of thousands of women and pregnant people from Northern Ireland who had abortions in Great Britain, or at home alone, with the threat of prosecution and without medical support.

Alliance for Choice are currently supported with small project grants from the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust, Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust,
ROSA UK and She Decides, as well as donations from Trade Unions and individual donors via our Local Giving page.
Alliance for Choice won the Liberty Long Walk to Freedom award with London Irish Abortion Rights Campaign and the FPA in 2017
and the Political Studies Association Campaign of the Year Award of 2018 for our work aiding the Repeal referendum in Ireland and in NI,
the Pride Community Campaign of the year award in 2019 and the Advancing Racial Justice and Fairness Award from the North West Migrants Forum in 2020.
